Aromas of red fruits, sage and lifted white pepper, the palate is of medium weight showing brambly dark berry characters a dusting of classy oak and finishing with fine savoury tannins.
Single vineyard wine from our home block 'Heywood Estate' in Hall. 24-year-old vines, handpicked. 30% Whole bunches added – the balance de-stemmed whole berries. Cold soaked in 1.5 & 3 tonne open fermenters for 7 days and fermented for 14 days. Some parcels having an extended maceration. Matured for 12 months in a range of high-end French barriques from the Allier and Troncais forests. 35% new oak – balance 1 to 3 years.
